Chestnut Grove Assisted Living
Reports to: Executive Director and Director of Dining Services
Summary: provide services to residents in the Assisted Living and Morning Glory dining rooms. Greet residents, take orders, assemble meals, serve food, clear food and perform cleaning and sanitizing functions in the kitchen and dining room areas.
Qualifications: At least 6 months related experience in quality food service is desirable.
Job Requirements: Requires the ability to: 1) read and understand English for menus, sanitation and equipment operation instructions, signs, company policies, and guidelines specific to this position: 2) effectively understand directions and respond to questions from residents, guests and staff (in English); 3) apply basic arithmetic for counting food and tray items: 4) solve practical problems within job functions and seek assistance when needed.
Physical Requirements: ability to lift up to 15 pounds, carry up to 15 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Set Tables
- Pre-set tables in a professional and elegant manner.
- Ensure all tables have correct linen, utensils, glassware, china and condiments.
- Ensure that food and supplies are available for the next meal.
2. Greet Residents/Take Orders
- Greet residents in a friendly manner.
- Record the details of the order from the resident and guest, repeating the order to the resident to check for accuracy.
3. Place Orders/Pick up Orders/Perform Kitchen Duties
- Place order in the kitchen.
- Transport food cart to Morning Glory dining room.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks.
- Ladle soup, toss salads, portion pies/desserts, brew coffee and perform other services as needed.
- Pick up order.
- Assemble plates including garnishment.
4. Serve Food
- Serve food to resident according to standards.
- Replenish beverages.
- Respond to resident’s requests in a prompt, efficient and friendly manner.
- Ask resident if they are satisfied and correct any deficiencies.
- Prepare and deliver snacks and nourishments as directed.
- Have knowledge of menu items and provide general description to the guests/residents.
5. Clear Tables/Perform Clean-Up Duties
- Clear table in an appropriate manner and take dishes to the dish room.
- Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and re-stocking.
- Follow all local, state and federal policies regarding food handling.
- Maintain standards of cleanliness, hygiene and health standards; clean and sanitize dining areas and work areas, equipment and floors, dishes and utensils.
- Launder napkins and table cloths, fold and return to inventory.
